American Trucking Trends 2018 – A Vital Part of Our Nation’s Economy

From the food we eat, to the clothes we wear and the hardware we use, many people aren’t aware that up to, “70% of the domestic products we buy in the United States are shipped to retail locations by truck.”

In fact, the ATA (American Trucking Association) recently released their American Trucking Trends 2018, highlighting just how important the trucking industry is to our national trade and businesses.

  • In 2017, the trucking industry generated over $700 billion in 2017, and “moved 69.1% of all trade between the U.S. and Mexico, and 57.7% of Canada-U.S. trade.”
  • Jobs related to trucking employed over 7.7 million people in 2017, including 3.5 million drivers
  • Trucking trends continue to influence job growth, infrastructure laws, tax policy, and more
  • As our industry continues to grow it allows many American businesses to do the same.
